Austin Historical Society

    On March 14, 2001 a group of local citizens met in Austin and set forth to preserve our area's rich history for future generations. The idea of a Historical Society for the town of Austin was discussed, they would rebuild the home of E.O. Austin, our town's founding father. The exterior of the house is to be a replica of Mr. Austin's original home, the inside into the town's own Historical Society. The building's purpose is to house and preserve valued memorabilia from Austin and it's general school district not only for pleasure but for educational value to young and old alike. However, it is not possible to build this museum on its original site because our local Fire Department now occupies the lot. The new site is located adjacent to the Fire Hall.  All involved in this endeavor have their hearts into it and a strong determination to fund as much of it on our own as humanly possible.
